Client:

NHS – various buildings/locations

Works:

Sub metering, this covered a wide range of utilities and applications such as electric, water, gas, heat, steam and plat monitoring such as solar and performance. Our M&E team have installed within the past 12 months roughly 800 sub meters providing the client with HH data which feeds back to our online monitoring platform to allow for report creating, trend tracking, alarm setting and more. As a result of our metering this has lead to various other projects as our data has proven numerous buildings and items of plant are either not functioning or running very inefficiently. A few examples of this included existing solar systems not working, i.e. faulty inverters resulting in solar systems not generating any power, through to old heating systems ran off oil, steam and gas running 24/7 and costing the client excessive amounts which cannot be budgeted for. This has then led to various de-carbonisation schemes with very fast paybacks, some within a couple of years and the relevant maintenance to be completed on solar and site plant to bring them back to a functioning status and where applicable allowing the client to start to receive the benefits again.

Outcome/benefits:

  • Accurate tenant billing
  • Ability to track energy waste and improve building efficiency
  • Accurate co2 reporting
  • De-carbonisation scheme funding
  • Fully functioning PV Systems
  • Timers & sensors applied to equipment to improve efficiency

FAQs

Common questions about energy monitoring and sustainability strategies.

What is energy monitoring?

Energy monitoring involves tracking and analysing how much electricity, gas, or water your business uses in real time. This data helps identify where energy is being wasted and where you can make improvements to reduce costs and carbon emissions.

How does real time data help?

Real time monitoring allows you to see energy consumption as it happens, not weeks later on a bill. This immediate visibility helps you spot unusual patterns, respond quickly to inefficiencies, and make informed decisions about your operations.

Can monitoring reduce our carbon footprint?

Yes. By understanding where energy is being used, you can implement targeted efficiency measures. Even small changes across your operations can add up to significant carbon reductions, helping you move towards net zero targets.

What about smaller businesses?

Energy monitoring benefits organisations of any size. Whether you operate a single building or multiple locations, understanding your consumption patterns is valuable for cost control and sustainability planning.

How long does implementation take?

Implementation timelines vary depending on your building’s complexity and existing infrastructure. Our team will work with you to create a realistic schedule that minimises disruption to your operations.
