Client:
Stonyhurst College
Client info:
Stonyhurst is a 1,000-acre rural estate near Clitheroe. It is centred on Stonyhurst College, occupying the great house, its preparatory school Stonyhurst Saint Mary’s Hall and the parish church, St Peter’s. Due to the rural location of site, Net Green Solutions has been approached to provide a wireless energy management system with full remote visibility.
Works:
Sub metering, this covered a wide range of utilities and applications such as electric, water, gas and Oil. Our specialist M&E team worked around many obstacles due to the prestigious nature of the building. As a result of our metering this has lead to various other projects as our data has proven areas of lighting are either not functioning or running very inefficiently as well as a full insight to the oil fed heating system. Net Green Solutions then conducted a comprehensive site survey of the lighting, created a new design including an ROI and due to short turnaround in payback completed a large lighting upgrading of hundreds of fittings, both internal and external.
Outcome/benefits:
- Accurate tenant billing
- Ability to track energy waste and improve building efficiency
- Accurate co2 reporting
- Timers & sensors applied to equipment to improve efficiency
- Visibility into high running cost areas of site and lighting upgraded
- Better lighting quality/levels
FAQs
Common questions about energy monitoring and sustainability strategies.
What is energy monitoring?
Energy monitoring involves tracking and analysing how much electricity, gas, or water your business uses in real time. This data helps identify where energy is being wasted and where you can make improvements to reduce costs and carbon emissions.
How does real time data help?
Real time monitoring allows you to see energy consumption as it happens, not weeks later on a bill. This immediate visibility helps you spot unusual patterns, respond quickly to inefficiencies, and make informed decisions about your operations.
Can monitoring reduce our carbon footprint?
Yes. By understanding where energy is being used, you can implement targeted efficiency measures. Even small changes across your operations can add up to significant carbon reductions, helping you move towards net zero targets.
What about smaller businesses?
Energy monitoring benefits organisations of any size. Whether you operate a single building or multiple locations, understanding your consumption patterns is valuable for cost control and sustainability planning.
How long does implementation take?
Implementation timelines vary depending on your building’s complexity and existing infrastructure. Our team will work with you to create a realistic schedule that minimises disruption to your operations.
